18-Year LA County Employee Charged With Gas Theft

According to Los Angeles County prosecutors, a long-time Los Angeles County employee has been charged with stealing more than 5,000 gallons of gasoline from the maintenance yards around the county.

Ralph Soto, an 18-year veteran of the Department of Public Works, has been charged with felony grand theft by embezzlement. The thefts occurred between July and September. Soto is accused of using a co-worker’s account number to fill his own minivan with gasoline. He also filled gas cans with fuel, which he sold. If convicted of the charges, Soto could be sentenced to as many as three years in prison.
