Actor, Son Charged With Felony Drug Possession

Actor Ryan O’Neal, 67, and his son Redmond, 23, were charged with felony drug possession after police searched their home in Malibu in September. The search was one of the terms of Redmond O’Neal’s probation in an earlier drug arrest. In June, Redmond O’Neal was sentenced to three years’ probation after police stopped him while driving under the influence of drugs. At the time of that arrest, the younger O’Neal was in possession of methamphetamine and heroin.

Police charged Ryan O’Neal they found methamphetamine in the actor’s bedroom and in other rooms of the home. An attorney for the actor denies that the drugs belonged to the elder O’Neal. In addition to the felony possession charge, Redmond O’Neal was charged with possessing drug paraphernalia and pepper spray. Last week, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ordered the younger O’Neal back to a drug rehabilitation program after O’Neal admitted that he had relapsed and was using methamphetamine again.
