AFT Announces Arrests Of 22 Alleged Gang Members

Last week, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms announced the arrests of 22 individuals allegedly linked to the Rollin’ 30s Harlem Crips street gang. Those detained face a number of federal narcotics and firearms charges. The arrests were the result of a joint investigation by federal and state authorities. In addition, two other individuals were detained on state charges and fifteen other federal defendants are still at large.

The two-year investigation led to the confiscation of 26 illegal firearms, more than 800 rounds of ammunition, an unidentified amount of illegal narcotics and nearly $30,000 in suspected narcotics proceeds. Federal authorities say that some of the individuals who were arrested were also involved in home invasions, robberies and thefts, and related crimes. In addition, authorities say that they halted a plan to use teenage associates to conduct a home invasion aimed at stealing a large quantity of cocaine.

According to the federal indictment, the arrested individuals were responsible for distributing OxyContin and crack cocaine in several West Coast locations. The ATF, the US Drug Enforcement Agency, the Los Angeles Police Department and the California Department of Corrections were involved in the investigation.
