Late on Sunday police in Los Angeles were led on a short chase that led to a rail yard and ultimately a rail car full of marijuana. Jesse Lopez, 28, Justin Coffey, 18 and Kristopher Maldonado, 19 were found in a car with marijuana that appeared to have been stored in oil.
Police notice the oil on the boys’ clothing and thus the chase began.
Officers were able to begin unloading a massive ammount of marijuana, who’s origin is still unknown, in the rail yard. The operation stopped midway due to a suspicious cylidar found within the tanker. Ater the cylinder was detonated, not damaging the tanker it’self, the seizure continued.
Police removed over 156 pounds of the drug from the tanker. Two officers reported accelerated heartrates and were sent to the hospital to be checked out. No injuries were reported.
The boys will now likely face a lenthy investigation and trial. First authorities must determine where the drugs came from as the paperwork for the tanker was sketchy at best. The railway is cooperating completely.

A 49 year old Los Angeles woman seemingly snapped last week when she stabbed her young daughter to death before attempting suicide.
The family of a retired Navy Reservist living in military housing on the Fort MacArthur base was torn apart recently when the father of a 10 year old little girl woke up to find his daughter fataly wounded and his wiffe stabbing herself in her daughters room.
For no apparent reason Bong Sook Chavez stabbed her daughter to death in the middle of the night. She then tried to take her own life and is currently in the hospital in serious but stable condition. She will be moved to a jail hospital ward as soon as it is safe to do so.
At that point she will be facing murder charges and have to answer for her actions. Her husband, who is suddenly burying a daughter and watching his wife’s case build, is baffled by the situation.
Ventura County Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend could help in this case or a case like it. With an aggressive defense plan he could tackle the uncertainty and strangeness of the ordeal and perhaps get charges against her reduced or even dropped. He will never promise any specific outcome but he will work hard for the best one.

A trial has started this week for a case involving an eighteen year old girl dying in a car accident. The parents of Candice Lopaty, Roy and Donna, are
suing Ventura County because they say the road where their daughter’s car launched off the road was dangerous and repeatedly overlooked.
“She was 18 years old on Christmas Day 2004 when she lost her life,” said the Lopatys’ lawyer, Douglas D. Shaffer of Santa Monica.
The Lopaty’s say that their daughter was only traveling 45 miles per hour and that there weren’t any guard rails or other safety precautions taken on that section of the road even though there have been over 17 accidents on that stretch alone in the last 8 years.
However Bruce Fink, Attorney for the county, is arguing that not only were proper precautions taken, including guardrails and reflectors, but also that Candice was driving at an excessive speed.
“There are millions of cars that go through that roadway, uneventfully,” Finck told jurors.

The ‘Grim Sleeper’, a cold case in Los Angeles, may have just been found. Because of a new technique approved in the state of California, one of only two states to do so, DNA found a likely suspect and led to his arrest.

The ‘Grim Sleeper’ is a serial killer who murdered ten people in the Los Angeles area over 25 years and baffled police with his ability to elude their best efforts.
The new law allows authorities to use DNA taken from covicted criminals and search for family members who may have committed a crime as well. This has only been used in Colorado and Europe and both areas have seen success.
Some are pushing for the testing to be used more widely in an effort to close cold and open cases that plague the US.
The question begs, does this violate our civil rights? The man to ask is Los Angeles Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend.

Fraud charges can hold not only a huge penalty financially as well as hefty jail time, but they can also ruin your reputation. This becomes an immeasurable issue because for some their reputation is their business. As in the situation of a couple who faced insurance fraud charges this year, without the proper representation your life could be in shambles after such a case.
In Orange County a heart monitoring company was recently accused of subbmitting flase claime to Medicare and TRICARE insurance agencies.
The company and prosecutors in the case reached a settlement aggrement forcing National Cardio Labs LLC to pay 3.6 million dollars back to Medicare and TRICARE.
Adrienne Stanman and her husband and former manager of National Cardio subbmited claims via the Federal Employee Health Benefts Prgram for over 6 years.
They paid 2.3 million dollars to the US and had to forfit almost $600,000 in assets. They will still need to pay the remaining $720,000 and have been given a deadline of July 21st of this year.
Los Angeles Attorney Robert Michael Helfend does not want to see anyone ruined. Mr. Helfend knows that sometimes things simply get out of hand or even blown out of proportion. the officer, was found guilty on Thursday of involuntary manslaughter.
The family of the deseased, Oscar Grant, says that he was murdered. They feel this way because two officers had Grant on the ground, where they say he was resisting aresst, until Mehserle pulled out his gun and shot the young man in the back. Grant was pronounced dead on scene.
”My son was murdered,” Wanda Johnson, Grant’s mother, said. “He was murdered and the law has not held the officer accountable.”

A sixty year old grandmother is currently under a courts eye who is considering weather or not she is fit to stand trial. Ann Marcia Casey is
accused of fraud, a charge that is now 17 years old.
The court is specifically trying to ascertain if Casey fully remembers her crimes and if she can be held responsible at her stage in life. She will be examined by a psychologist who will decide if she can understand enough to enter pleas for the 182 counts of fraud she would stand trial for.
The counts are officially for ‘obtaining a benefit not payable in relation to funds received from Centrelink’.
She was originally arrested in 1993 when she allegedly stole a British passport from a friend and fled Australia and moved to the states. She originally went to Los Angeles with only $800 and her stolen identity. She was recently found in South Carolina.

This past week a case was surprisingly dropped due to insufficient and poor evidence on the prosecutions part. This type of thing, while not frequent, is not at all impossible. Los Angeles Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend has seen this type of outcome for his clients and while he will not promise it to you, he will definetly fight for it.
The case dates back several years and involves the murders of three men, one of them being tribal leader Fred Alvarez. The men were found shot to death in the backyard of Alvarez. At the time there were few if any suspects.
Then last September self professed hitman turned preacher Jimmy Hughes was arrested while sitting on a plane bound for Honduras in the Miami Airport. He was facing charges of first degree murder and conspiracy. The case was then dropped citing the quality of evidence and new information.
Everyone should know that a great defense lawyer can get these types of results if he is willing to fight hard and be aggressive in his legal maneuvering. Ventura County Defense Attorney Robert Micahel Helfend has an awesome track record and has earned the trust of not only his clients but also his peers and judges withing the court system.
Mr. Helfend knows that trust is important and will meet with any prospective client for a free initial consultation to help you understand what you are facing as well as what you and he together as a team can do about it.

A ten year old girl was spending the day with her family in Pearblossom Park on July third when an unidentified man grabbed her arm and tried to pull her into a hidden part of the park.

She was thankfully able to get away from him and run to her family members nearby. However the man got away and police have very few leads. They do know that he was a white male and looked to be between 30 and 40 years old and was wearing a white shirt, brown shorts, and dark sunglasses. He drove away in a silver compact car with a spoiler.
A sketch artist worked with the little girl and came up with the drawing pictured.
Anyone with information about this crime is encouraged to contact their local sheriff’s station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department or the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Parks Bureau at (800) 834-0064.

In July of 2008 Pamela Goudie Fayed, 44 of Camarillo, was stabbed to death in a parking garage. Almost a full year later two more men have been arrested in conjunction with the crime.
Steven Vicente Simmons, 21, and Gabriel Jay Marquez, 45, have been taken into custody and are facing felony charges of murder. Marquez was already doing time for other crimes and has been in jail since April. If convicted these charges will be added to his time.
Also already behind bars is the husband of the deceased, James Fayed who detectives believe hired the men to kill his wife. He was arrested soon after the crime but has not been convicted yet.
In Los Angeles murder charges are extrememly serious. Because of the availability of the death penalty in the state of California, it’s even more important to hire a truly great attorney with the experience to get your charges reduced or even dropped altogether. Although he will never promise these results, Ventura County Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend is the lawyer who has been able to see them time and again during his twenty years defending the residents of Los Angeles.
