Ventura Defense Attorney Robert Helfend Will Defend You Against Hate Crime Charges

The mumurs around the nation concerning the possible building of a Muslim cultural center near ground zero are quite possibly becoming more than just talk and irritation. Recently an act of vandalism at a mosque in Madera California was ruled, and will be tried, as a hate crime.

“It’s an environment with rapid urbanization. The diversity and change that makes California such a great place also means … there are more potential flashpoints,” U.S. Atty. Benjamin Wagner said. “This office has a lot of experience prosecuting hate crimes.”

He is talking about the night when a brick nearly smashed through a window at a the mosque in Madera. Vandals also spray painted signs reading things like: “Wake up America, the enemy is here,” and “No temple for the god of terrorism.”

The group going by the name American Nationalist Brotherhood have spoken up saying that they were the perpetrators for not only this, but also the attack on the planned parenthood office in Madera as well.

“Unfortunately, police officers sometimes suffer from a tribal mentality of “us versus them.” As a result, they may occasionally rationalize questionable or outright unconstitutional behavior if they believe it results in “getting the bad guys.” They can also take advantage of a person’s lack of knowledge regarding the law. It’s not uncommon for officers to engage a suspect in conversation in order to see if the suspect will incriminate him or herself or agree to let the officers search his/her car or house voluntarily. What may appear as “good police work” may be nothing more than manipulation, intimidation, or outright harassment.” – Robert Helfend

Los Angeles Mob Marched Down 6th Street Screaming Assassination At LAPD

As an officer of the court and a known defender of the people of the Los Angeles area, Attorney Robert Michael Helfend is available for the defense of anyone accused of a crime. Clients include accused murderers, thieves, and even gang members.

Los Angeles Police in riot gear met with an angry screaming mob in the middle of 6th street on Monday. The mob was voicing their displeasure, to put it mildly, concerning the death of a Guatemalan Man who was shot and killed by police.

Authorities say that thirty seven year old Manuel Jamines was sporting a knife and when confronted by officers and told to drop the weapon, he refused. The situation came to deadly force and Jamines was killed by gunshot.

However, the residents of the Westlake community tell a differenct story. One man says he was walking down the street when he heard two gunshots fired and turned to see Jamines fall. The witness, fifty seven year old Julio Martinez, says that he saw no knife and believes that Jamines was heartlessly killed for no reason.

“He was not a criminal,” said Juan Velasquez, who said he is from the same village as Jamines.

Speedy Work By The LAPD Results In Quick Arrest

An arrest has been made less than a week after three men were murdered in a West Hollywood apartment.

Earlier this week we profiled a case where two brothers and a friend of theirs were shot to death for no aparent reason. Police originally thought that drugs were not a motivating factor in the case.

However, now that thirty one year old Harold Yong Park, a Korean man from East Hollywood, has been arrested and several pounds of marijuana were found in his possession investigators are thinking that may have been taken from the apartment.

As more time passes the case is coming together in a fashion which may lead to the conviction of Park as the killer of all three men.

“Drug crimes investigations often involve more than allegations of drug possession or narcotics trafficking. If conducted at the federal level, investigators often look for evidence of money laundering and conspiracy. Once an indictment is handed down, a criminal forfeiture may be initiated, allowing the government to seize any property or assets it believes the accused acquired with proceeds from illegal drug activity. At my office,Robert Michael Helfend, Attorney at Law, I have the resources and experience needed to defend clients on multiple fronts in cases involving charges of drug trafficking in Los Angeles.

Hiring An Experienced Defense Attorney May Prove To Be A Better Plan

Charles Juan Proctor, a 45 year old homeless man in the Los Angeles area, has been tried and convicted for the attempted murder of six women in Long Beach in 2008.

Proctor was on a crime spree robbing several stores and demanding cash. In most stores the women workers were terorized, held at knife point, and even stabbed and slashed.

“Each of the victims in his path was shown to be in complete and utter terror of his attack,” Deputy Dist. Atty. Carol Rose stated in court writings.

The state was able to make the connection between the cases because of DNA left at some of the scenes. Proctor has been convicted and sentenced to 433 years in prison, nine of which he will serve in Nevada due to crimes in that state before returning to California for the duration of his sentence.

In a case like this it would have been importatnt to hire a lawyer who is more experienced for your defense. Although the public defenders work hard for thier clients, an attorney like Los Angeles Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend may have been able to get a better outcome.

However, last Friday a different yet still familiar type of story was written about an incident involving the socialite. Apparently police smelled marijuana coming from the inside of a black Cadillac Escalade. When authorities pulled the SUV over they found Hilton inside. Hilton was booked and released and will presumebly have to return to court to answer for her crimes at a later date.

According to police in Los Angeles a tagging group started about a year and a half ago is currently causing havoc in the city. The PCNs, which either stands for Painting City Nightly or Painters Causing Nightmares, are a gang who tag the city as often and as much as possible.

This week authorities have arrested two suspected members of the gang and are looking for another. Investigators served warrants on Tuesday which brought in twenty one year old German Lara and twenty year old Andrew Pineda.

“This is a message to all taggers,” said Lt. Vincent Carter. “If you don’t stop tagging, we come to your houses at 7 in the morning, break down your door, wake you up and take you to jail.”

The two are accused of damaging property across the county and state. Deputies say they are responsible for approximately a hundred and nine thousand dollars in damage. Often tagging seems like a small and insignificant crime when in reality it can be seriously damaging.

Los Angeles Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend understands how police and prosecutors can sometimes sensationalize crimes. In a case like that Robert Helfend could help. Rave In Los Angeles Is The Cause Of Over 80 Arrests Of Minors

Over four thousand people attended a rave in the Los Angeles area on the night of August 22. About eighty people were arrested for drugs, alcohol, and using fake IDs.

Police say that the 18th annual Love Festival caused three people to be taken to the hospital and many more were treated for the effects of drugs and alcohol. Many of those arrested were minors using false identification to gain access to the 18 and over concert.

These types of concerts and festivals are drawing negative attention because of the underage drinking and illegal drugs often resulting in severe consequences and even death. Two months ago a fifteen year old girl died from an apparent overdose at the Electric Daisy Carnival.

Assumed Hate Crime In Los Angeles Is Down Graded To Felony Vandalism

Last Wednesday night Police saw someone hammering on a monument outside of the St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church in Glendale. Because of the nature of the crime prosecutors filed the charges as a hate crime, but after further investigation have down graded the charges to felony vandalism among other things.

“After reviewing the evidence, we felt that these were the appropriate charges,” said spokeswoman Shiara Davila-Morales.

The man arrested for the crime, twenty three year old Victor Petrescu also of Glendale, has pleaded not guilty to the crime but remains in custody until he can pay a sizable bail.

“We commend the work of the Glendale police and, fortunately enough, they were there and were able to stop this assault in a very quick way, but we don’t want to be in the position of condemning anyone,” said Levon Kirakosian, a spokesman for the La Crescenta-based Western Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America. “We understand that there is a lot of facts that need to be discovered.”

Los Angeles Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend could help. Just in reading this story it is clear that although the perpetrator was allegedly ‘caught in the act’ the details are still sketchy.

Hiring a lawyer who is willing to use any and all legal tactics to get your charges reduced or even dropped is key to winning a case. Robert Helfend will not guarantee a favorable verdict but he will certainly work for it.

Los Angeles Police Arrest the “Football Bandit”

Sometimes the names that repeat offenders get tagged with can be funny. In recent blogs on this site several ‘bandits’ hace been profiled. For example the “geezer’ bandit was written about in that he is an old man with a oxygen tank strapped to his back when he robs banks.

This week I’m writing about the ‘Football’ bandit aptly named because he wore a football jersey to both of the banks he is suspected of robbing.

On July 26 the U.S. Bank on East Main Street was robbed, ealier this year, on May 17 the First Bank and Trust on Telephone road was robbed. Authorities believe that the Cody Barnum or the Football Bandit is responsible for both crimes.

Cody Barnum has been arrested and will stand trial for his alledged crimes in a Federal Court on Monday.

On June 26th at least two men entered a Los Angeles marijuana dispensary and ransacked the shop. The men were allegedly gang members seeking to send a message to the legal marijuana trade that cutting into street profits is not a good idea.

The men held the security worker and another man at gunpoint and then, although they didn’t resist, shot them both. The security guard survived, however 27 year old Matthew Butcher wasn’t so lucky.

This month the two shooters were identified as Raymond Lemone Easter, 27, and Daniel Deshawn Hinton, 31. The latter has been arrested and charged with the murder. He is being held without bail awaiting trial.

Hinton is pleading not guilty but is facing serious charges. Investigators are still searching for Easter and are offering a reward for information leading to his arrest. They also now believe that there may have been a third man involved and are searching for ways to identify him
