LAPD Used A Taser A Drunk Man Who Ended Up In Critical Condition

In a video on YouTube taken this past Sunday morning around 2am, two officers of the Los Angeles Police Department can be seen using what appears to be excessive force on a drunk man in downtown LA.

In the three minute video taken by a woman with a cell phone, the officers can be seen arguing with the combative man who is yelling profanity’s and racial slurs for approximately two and a half minutes until they tase him in the chest. While his muscles are seized and his body is slowly falling over, one of the officers whacks him with a night stick.

The man then hits the ground with an audible snap on the pavement, at which time the video taping bystander can be heard saying, ”Oh his head just split open!” before both policeman kneel beside and on his back to cuff him. The man doesn’t move even slightly during the last few seconds before the video ends.

Authorities have reported that they then called for an ambulance and the man was taken to Cedar Sinai Hospital where he is currently is serious but stable condition.

In this type of case it is common for the police force to claim they acted within the confines of the law and continue to prosecute the victim for public drunkenness and resisting arrest. If you or someone you love is the accused in a case like this you will need to contact Los Angeles Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend for your best chance at a positive outcome.
