A federal judge has sentenced Hammad Samana for his role in plotting a terrorist act against targets including the Los Angeles International Airport, synagogues, the Israeli Consulate in Los Angeles and military targets, including recruiting stations and military bases. Prosecutors say that former inmates of Folsom Prison recruited Samana to be part of the Jam’iyyat Ul-Islam-Is-Saheeh (JIS).

Members of the group funded their activities by robbing gas stations in Los Angeles County and Orange County to raise money to carry out the attacks. None of the attacks were ever attempted and other members of the group have already been sentenced to lengthy state and federal prison sentences for their roles in the gas station robberies and the attack plans.

Sammad will spend 70 months in Federal prison for his roles in planning the attacks. The sentence closes out the federal probe into the JIS terrorist cell.
