New California DNA Testing Technique, Good Or Evil?

The ‘Grim Sleeper’, a cold case in Los Angeles, may have just been found. Because of a new technique approved in the state of California, one of only two states to do so, DNA found a likely suspect and led to his arrest.

The ‘Grim Sleeper’ is a serial killer who  murdered ten people in the Los Angeles area over 25 years and baffled police with his ability to elude their best efforts.

The new law allows authorities to use DNA taken from covicted criminals and search for family members who may have committed a crime as well. This has only been used in Colorado and Europe and both areas have seen success.

Some are pushing for the testing to be used more widely in an effort to close cold and open cases that plague the US.

The question begs, does this violate our civil rights? The man to ask is Los Angeles Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend.
