A Rialto man was arrested on Friday after he allegedly attempted to flee a sobriety checkpoint that had been established by police in Redlands. Redlands officers suspected that Bryant Jones was driving under the influence, and was stopped at the checkpoint. Jones told the Redlands police officer that he was driving on a suspended license. When the officer directed Jones to a secondary screening area, Jones sped off.

Redlands police informed nearby jurisdictions that they were looking for Jones, but did not immediately give chase. Jones reportedly left the scene, ran a red light and was driving at speeds estimated to top 100 mph.

Shortly after Jones fled the checkpoint, he crashed his vehicle and fled the accident on foot. Jones was arrested a short time later at his girlfriend’s Highland home by officers from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Upon his arrest, officers learned that Jones had other outstanding DUI warrants. He was charged with another count of DUI and driving on a suspended license.
