Geezer Bandit Strikes Again In California

Life in prison does not seem to be any cause for worry to deters this bank robber, could it be because ,statistically ,that could be a five year sentence?

The FBI has named a bank robber currently on a crime spree in San Diego, the Geazer bandit. They say he looks to be in his late seventies.

Although he has become quite the media “hero” the FBI warns that he is armed and dangerous. He has robbed 11 banks at gun point, with his oxygen tank and mask slung over his sholuder.

Hollywood actor James Farentino, best known for his role in Dynasty, was arrested last week for misdemeanor battery.

The story is sketchy at best. Apparently Farentino was attempting to make an unidentified man leave his home when the man turned and said that he was making a citizens arrest for battery. When police arrived Farentino was taken into custody as the man was obviously beaten up.

Although this case seems shaky and strange, it is unfortunately not surprising that James in headed back to court. Years ago he was forced to enroll in alcohol abuse rehab as well as see a psychiatrist after being convicted of several counts of stalking. The so called “Bling Ring” of 2009 is headed back to court this week. The young people involved are starting to speak out by way of confessions and shows of remorse. Nick Prugo, who was arrested last September, appeared on Good Morning America stating “There was a definite thrill to it. I don’t think any of us realized how severe it was until we actually got caught.”

Rachel Lee, the so called leader, wasn’t on the show because she was busy pleading not guilty in a Los Angeles Court that Wednesday. Lee is fighting multiple charges including receiving stolen property. The group allegedly hit the homes of Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Lindsey Lohan and others.

The ring consists of Rachel Lee, Nick Prugo, Diana Tamayo, Courtney Ames, Alexis Neiers who are all merely nineteen years old. 27 year old Roy Lopez makes six members total.

Vanity Fair published a recent article on the crime spree quoting Prugo and Neiers as they recounted the crime at Orlando Bloom’s house. They told police how they “Cut through the security fence…” and “Ransacked the house..” on July 13 in 2009. The spree allegedly began because of Rachel Lee’s desire to look like a star and wear the same labels and the rich and famous.

Homeless Ventura Man Arrested In Santa Maria Murder

Police say they’ve arrested a homeless Ventura man in connection with the murder of disabled Santa Maria resident Steve Tannenbaum. Mark Morton, 48, was arrested in a homeless camp in Ventura when he was arrested last week. Morton is accused of murder in the death of Tannenbaum last month.

Morton appeared in court on Tuesday and was charged with murder, first degree residential burglary, and second-degree robbery charges in connection with Tannenbaum’s death. Tannenbaum, 55, sold and repaired sewing machines. Police did not say how they developed information on the murder or whether Tannenbaum and Morton knew each other, but named Morton as a suspect four days after the murder occurred.

Camarillo Juvenile Arrested On Purse-Snatching Charge

A 13-year-old Camarillo boy was arrested in connection with a purse snatching that happened last week. The juvenile, whose name was not released, allegedly stole a purse from the shoulder of an 80-year-old woman outside a discount store. A Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the boy running away from the scene. The boy threw the purse away, but was arrested after a short foot chase. The victim was not seriously injured in the incident.

Port Hueneme Man To Be Sentenced In Oxnard Murder

A Port Hueneme resident who assisted a friend after the murder of an Oxnard businessman will be free on bond until his sentencing in September. Lance Brown, 26, of Port Hueneme will live with his mother and children at her Oxnard home until he is sentenced for his role in helping Jeffrey Aguilar, 23, escape from authorities.

Aguilar is accused of shooting Gurmohinder Singh, 55, as he exited a bank last August. Authorities say Brown provided a cell phone to Aguilar, who is a member of the Colonia Chiques gang. The new cell phone, which was activated in Brown’s name, enabled Aguilar to elude police for about a week after he was identified as a suspect in Singh’s murder. Brown has a prior felony conviction for first degree robbery.

In addition to facing murder charges, Aguilar is also being tried on charges of second degree robbery and two counts of attempted murder for shooting at police as they were attempting to arrest him. Five other people were also accused of assisting Aguilar, including Chrystal Ceja, who has two children with the suspect. She is accused of being an accessory to murder, as well as money laundering.

Police arrested a Ventura robbery suspect last Thursday. The man, Rene Hernandez, 19, of Santa Paula, is accused of stealing beer and threatening an employee of a Fillmore gas station with a gun. Santa Paula police spotted the vehicle used in the robbery about 20 minutes after the victim reported the incident and stopped it. When police searched the car, they found both the beer and the handgun. Hernandez. Three other men in the car were detained but released without being charged.

Ventura County Man Arrested In SB Bank Robbery

Ventura Police Department officers assisted in the arrest of a man wanted on suspicion of bank robbery in Santa Barbara County last week. Authorities arrested Steve Morris at his Ventura home, saying that Morris was responsible for the robbery of a Rabobank in Buellton. Police allege that Morris drove up to the teller’s window and gave the teller a note demanding cash. After the teller complied, the man drove off. Witnesses gave police a partial license plate number, which helped lead them to Morris. He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond.

Ventura PD Arrests Teens In Robbery, Car Theft

Ventura police arrested three people in conjunction with a robbery and auto theft in Ventura on Monday. Two teenage victims, both from Iowa, reported to police that they had been lured to a Motel 6 on Harbor Road by two juvenile girls. The girls were working with a third person, David Lumas, 20, of Ventura, who threatened the victims and implied that he had a weapon. He ordered the victims to give him money and the keys to their car, which they did.

The victims then called police, who located the vehicle in Thousand Oaks, where California Highway Patrol officers stopped the vehicle and found Lumas and the two juveniles inside. The trio was arrested on charges of armed robbery, auto theft and criminal conspiracy.
